*Carnival in Rio is Feb 21-24, with the Samba Parade being both Sunday and Monday nights, from 7 pm to about 6 am. Prices depend on seating, and tables are the most comfortable and the most expensive ($200 plus).
   †The luxury ball at the Copacabana Palace is scheduled for Saturday night ($200+). Black tie or luxury costumes are mandatory. You will rub shoulders with international and local VIP's and top models, as well as eccentric types of all genres. A gay ball is held nightly, Friday through Tuesday, at Le Boy nightclub in Copacabana.
