Horse RideTour 21467
Duration: Approximately 11⁄2 hours (1 hour riding)
 Departs: Morning & Afternoon
 Price: US$48
 very limited capacity
Twenty years ago, the creators of the ranch “La Petite Ferme” (the little
farm) traveled to the Marquesas Islands, in search of ten horses to bring back
to Huahine. The fourteen horses that now comprise the stable are, in fact, the
direct descendants. Marquesan horses are renowned for their robust, hardy and
gentle nature. They are suitable for inexperienced as well as accomplished
riders, and are perfectly adapted to the climate. They grow a winter coat which
seems incredible in view of the warm winter temperature. You will use the
“hackamore” system—a bridle without a bit, which is more comfortable for the
horse and just as efficient. A clear demonstration will be given just prior to
the tours. After the short demonstration, head towards the beach, eventually
reaching the beginning of Motu Maeva. Here you will find the lake and walk the
horses through the water. This ride takes one hour, depending on the group’s
riding level.
Please note: We recommend you wear: long pants, closed shoes, hat
and sunscreen. For the horses well-being, a maximum rider’s weight of 100 kilos
(220 lbs) is observed.
